Ron Paul interviewed by Piers Morgan on CNN

February 5, 2012 by galudwig

Looks like I’m a couple of days late with this one, but I just watched it, and I have to say I don’t think the interview was as bad as many Ron Paul-fanatics are saying it was. I mean, sure, Morgan starts off the interview with the smug and entirely unnecessary line “Ron Paul is not going to be our president”, and yeah, it sometimes looks as if he’s purposely trying to misrepresent Paul’s views. The part on Ahmadinejad in particular was unworthy of a major news station in my opinion. All in all, though, I think the interview was okay, and it’s definitely worth a watch, if anything, to see Ron Paul defend himself very well against a rather hostile interviewer. And hey, at least Morgan did a better job than his newsletter-obsessed colleague, right?

  1. Maybe I’m biased, but I feel like Ron Paul is almost always attacked by the interviewer. None of the other presidential candidates seem to have to deal with that. Not even Newt.

Well, CNN tends to be somewhat on the liberal side, and they usually don’t shy away from attacking conservative candidates as well (the way Morgan, ridiculously, kept harping on about Romney’s “not caring about the poor”-comment or how he referred to Newt’s martial colony statement are case in point). CNN and MSNBC clearly prefer Obama and their interviewing styles reflect this preference. On Fox News, the situation is just the opposite.

It’s just that, since Ron Paul is a real libertarian, there are very few media outlets that are naturally sympathetic to him. However, when he appears on eg Freedom Watch or Stossel, he is treated in a completely different way.

And, all in all, I think Morgan was actually quite civil with Paul. Better than what we have grown to expect from the MSM anyway..

      • Yeah on Freedom watch he is always treated well – Paul and Judgle Napolitano have a good relationship. Ron Paul wrote the forward to his book “Lies the Government Told You” – I book I recommned btw.

Thanks for the book recommendation, a book written by Napolitano sounds great, I love his energy and passion!

I hope he writes in all caps to stay close to his tv-hosting style 🙂
